Virginia's 4 P.M. Burn Law is in Effect.

The Commonwealth's 4 p.m. Burning Law goes into effect Feb. 15, 2017 – the start of spring fire season in Virginia.

This law prohibits burning before 4 p.m. each day (Feb. 15 – April 30) if the fire is in, or within 300 feet of, woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable materials.

A violation of this law is a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine. In addition ... (Full Story)

4th Alarm Structure Fire

Companies 30 and 80 was dispatched for a structure fire involving an apartment building. Units arrived on the scene to find heavy fire conditions on sides Charlie and Delta. Truck 80 and Engine 807 took the Charlie / Delta side and set up a master stream operation. Traffic Crash involving Tractor Trailer

Elkton and McGaheysville Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a tractor trailer crash involving roll over and 5 other vehicles. Fire/Rescue personnel extricated the driver of the tractor trailer and was flown to the University of Virginia hospital. 9 other patients were transported to Sentra Rockingham Memorial Hospital. ...
